River Wolves

Among local people the South American giant otter is often reffered to as the "river wolf".

In June 2012 GIVSKUD ZOO celebrated the opening of a new tropical house for these highly skilled predators.
This season an outdoor area for the park's two otters, "Frieda" and "Saro", will complete the audience's experience of this South American carnivor.

The Lion Park?

 Or Løveparken, Lejonparken or Löwenpark...
You are quite right if this is something you remember from your childhood.

When the park opened in 1969, the lions were the main attraction - in fact, the only one. In subsequent years more species arrived and, in 1983, the park was renamed GIVSKUD ZOO.

And today we are still proud to show our visitors Northern Europe's largest pride of lions.

Our famous gorilla

Samson is no ordinary gorilla. As far as we know, he was the first gorilla in the world to have his own Facebook profile. Within two months, he had 5,000 friends, the maximum number of friends that Facebook would allow. Nowadays you can "like" him on his fan page. Please forgive him for not writing in English. He has never been abroad...
